Objects that appear lifeless from the perspective of Western modernity - sticks, stones, bones, etc - are known, within an animist ontology, to possess a distinct numinous essence. In our work we seek to inhabit an animist perspective in order to trace these numinous threads through found objects, mostly collected from our local beach, and to arrange and sculpt these objects in ways that honour and vivify their life-force, and express their personalities and powers. We work intuitively - punctuating nature’s artistry with recycled metals, arriving at forms that feel dynamic, alive and sometimes sacred.  This process is informed by our interest in the aesthetic and religious expressions of animist cultures.
