I aM JIKA!
I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country on which I work - the Dharawal People - I recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. I pay my respects to their Elders past and present. I acknowledge my ancestors, and yours - and thank them for their blessings.
Hi, I’m Jes -and this is Jika: Artisan jewellery, handmade from from recycled metals on Dharawal Land. Jika is an ethical, slow fashion enterprise, that I own and operate with my partner Sam. We are committed to Authenticity, Sustainability and Quality and this is our offering to you.
Every Jika piece is carefully handcrafted by me from sustainably sourced and locally recycled gold, sterling silver and brass. In my work I integrate contemporary design, artisanal craftsmanship, and sustainable practices to create jewellery that celebrates the body, carries a story, and lasts a lifetime (or longer).
My process cultivates and celebrates imperfection and asymmetry. Any item you purchase - whether it was selected from my range, a one-off design you, or a custom/bespoke piece - will be utterly unique, and will contain signs of its handmade process.
I work from my home studio on Dharawal Country (halfway between Sydney and Wollongong), but often travel to Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle and Adelaide to share my work at artisan markets. You can keep up to date with my movements, creations and day to day life by following me on instagram, Facebook, or signing up to my newsletter (just enter your email address below!).
If you have any questions about our pieces, processes, or just want to say hi - then email contact@iamjika.com. We’d love to hear from you.
